Romantic Sandbox Wedding - Downtown San Diego | Marie + Kevin

As if Marie + Kevin weren’t beautiful enough, they were Barbie and Ken DREAMS on their wedding day! These two partied their little booties off at the gorgeous Sandbox Venue in downtown San Diego after saying their vows in the St. Joseph Cathedral. “The best part of the sandbox was the ability it gave us to have complete control both financially and creatively. We wanted a child-friendly, laid back atmosphere that also aligned with our industrial-modern style, and this space was perfect. Also, it's impossible not to have a rager when you have a giant disco ball hanging above your head!”

Their wedding was all things romance, and strongly focused on family and faith. The only thing it was missing was their sweet Golden Retriever pup! “My favorite memory was probably the very end of the night when we got to our hotel and stayed up for hours like 12 year olds at a sleepover just giddily laughing and replaying our favorite moments of the night. There was so much excitement, love, and joy shared and we couldn't shut up about it! We also ordered $30 chicken strips to our room since we didn't even hardly eat the entire day!” I mean seriously guys, nothing says best night ever like midnight chicken strips!!

Kevin mentioned that “one of the most invaluable things we did prior to marriage was meet monthly with an older couple whose marriage we would like to emulate. It allowed us to discuss family dynamics, articulate fears and expectations, and ask difficult questions.”

Marie’s advice to couples getting married - focus on what means the most to you! “Ours were our faith, having a good time, and making sure everyone felt welcome. Nothing was over the top or only for show, no seating assignments, and unlimited tacos from a family owned establishment helped create the best reception we could have imagined! “
